CABLING & PROTECTION
Low voltage lights are commonly used in the garden because they require only 12v power supply to them. This means that as they only have 12v feeding them in a cable there are no dangers to anyone or animal cutting through the cable. The other method of protecting the cables in a garden is one which is always employed by ourselves and should be by anyone taking electricity from the house into the garden. Protection comes in the form of an RCD which will trip within 200milli sec if a fault occurs. RCD`s are always tested indiviually by us to ensure they trip out well within the required time put in force by the regulations.
All of the mains cables which we run in a garden are armoured cable pictured below:

The cable is protected by a steel sheath which is earthed when terminated at enclosure boxes. This is because if something were to damage the cable the object penetrating the it will touch the earthed armour first enabling it to trip when it further touches a live cable.
ENCLOSURES
The enclosures which we use can be either grey or black in colour depending on the surrounding cover, and they are IP 56 rated ( water proof ) which is always required if an enclosure is facing the elements.
REMOTE CONTROL
Remote control switching is often adopted by ourselves due to the lack of disturbance to interior walls where normally chasing of cables would need to be carried out below is one of the latest remote control units that we use. It eneables us to separate the areas of your garden into 4 i.e
The remote control mentioned can switch up to 700w per channel and if required can individually be dimmed down
